Manga

Manga are comics and print cartoons (sometimes also called komikku), in Japanese and conforming to the style developed in Japan in the late 20th century. In their modern form, manga date from shortly after World War 2 but have a long, complex history in earlier Japanese art. In Japan, manga are widely read by people of all ages, and include a broad range of subjects: action-adventure, romance, sports and games, historical drama, comedy, science fiction and fantasy, mystery, horror, sexuality, and business and commerce, among others. Since the 1950s, manga have steadily become a major part of the Japanese publishing industry, representing a 481 billion yen market in Japan in 2006 (approximately $4.4 billion dollars). Manga have also become increasingly popular worldwide. In 2006, the United States manga market was $175–200 million. Manga are typically printed in black-and-white, although some full-color manga exist (e.g. Colorful manga, not the anime series). In Japan, manga are usually serialized in telephone book-size manga magazines, often containing many stories each presented in a single episode to be continued in the next issue. If the series is successful, collected chapters may be republished in paperback books called tankōbon. A manga artist (mangaka in Japanese) typically works with a few assistants in a small studio and is associated with a creative editor from a commercial publishing company. If a manga series is popular enough, it may be animated after or even during its run, although sometimes manga are drawn centering on previously existing live-action or animated films (e.g. Star Wars).
Manga as a term outside of Japan refers specifically to comics originally published in Japan. However, manga and manga-influenced comics, among original works, exist in other parts of the world, particularly in Taiwan ("manhua"), South Korea ("manhwa"), and the People's Republic of China, notably Hong Kong ("manhua"). In France, "la nouvelle manga" is a form of bande dessinée drawn in styles influenced by Japanese manga. In the U.S., manga-like comics are called Amerimanga, world manga, or original English language manga (OEL manga).

Phoenix

The phoenix is a mythical sacred firebird in ancient mythologies starting with the Egyptian, Phoenician and later the Greek Mythology. A phoenix is a mythical bird with a tail of beautiful gold and red plumage. It has a 600-800 year life-cycle, and near the end the phoenix builds itself a nest of cinnamon twigs that it then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self. In some stories, the new phoenix embalms the ashes of its old self in an egg made of myrrh and deposits it in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis (sun city in Greek). The bird was also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe, thus being almost immortal and invincible — it is also said that it can heal a person with a tear from its eyes and make them temporarily immune to death; a symbol of fire and divinity.

Take care of you laptop

Step how to take a good care of your laptop:

  1. Keep liquids away from your laptop. As tempting as it might be to drink coffee, soda or any other liquid near your laptop, accidents can happen all too easily. Spilled liquids may damage the internal components or cause electrical injury to the laptop. Short circuits can corrupt data or even permanently destroy parts. The solution is very simple: Keep your drinks away from your computer. Even if you're careful, someone else might bump into your desk or you.
  2. Keep food away from your laptop. Don't eat over your laptop. The crumbs can go down between the keys in the keyboard and provide an invitation to small bugs. The crumbs can also irritate the circuitry. Worse, it makes the laptop look dirty if there are crumbs and food stains on it.
  3. Always have clean hands when using your laptop. Clean hands make it easier to use your laptop touchpad and there will be less risk of leaving dirt and other stains on the computer. In addition, if you clean your hands before use, you will help reduce wear and tear on the coating of the laptop caused by contact with sweat and small particles that can act upon the laptop's exterior underneath your wrists and fingers.
  4. Protect the LCD display monitor. When you shut your laptop, make sure there are no small items, such as a pencil or small ear-phones, on the keyboard. These can damage the display screen when shut; the screen will scratch if the item is rough. Close the lid gently and holding from the middle. Closing the lid using only one side causes pressure on that hinge, and over time can cause it to bend and snap.
  5. Hold and lift the computer by its base, not by its LCD display (the screen). If you lift it by the screen part alone, you could damage the display or the hinges attaching it to the base. The display is also easily scratched or damaged by direct pressure – avoid placing pressure on it.
  6. Don't pull on the power cord. Tugging your power cord out from the power socket rather than putting your hand directly on the plug in the socket and pulling can break off the plug or damage the power socket. Also, if you have the power point near your feet, avoid constantly bumping into the plug or you could loosen it and eventually break it.
  7. Don't roll your chair over the computer cord. Stick the cord onto your desk with tape or a special computer cord tie which can be easily undone when you've finished using the laptop. Always try to keep most of the cord away from the floor or your legs; sometimes you can be so engrossed in what you're doing that you move your legs and forget the cord is there.
  8. Insert drives into their slots carefully and at the correct angle. Pushing the wrong drive into a socket, or at an angle, or even upside down can jam it.
  9. Check to see if labels are affixed securely before inserting media into your laptop computer. Media such as CDs, DVDs or floppy disks should not have any loose label parts that might jam inside the laptop drive. Never insert undersized CDs, as these can damage the disk player permanently.
  10. Don't expose your laptop to rapid temperature fluctuations. When bringing your laptop indoors during winter, don't turn it on immediately. Instead, let it warm to room temperature first. This will avoid any potential for damage to the disk drive from condensation forming inside the machine.

Wau

Wau-making is an ancient art inherited from the Melaka court who popularised the kite-flying sport. The art/skill is usually passed down from father to son. Kite-making requires tremendous skill and patience. First, they use split bamboo to make the frame of the kite. Then they cover the frame with tinted, shiny glazed paper. Intricate floral cutouts and designs are delicately pasted on this paper until the wau is ready for its final decoration of bright paper tassels. A bow-shaped device is attched to the neck of the kite - this will provide a pleasant, high-pitched humming sound when the kite is flown on the sky.Wau-making has become a declining art in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Occasionally, you may see small wau-making activities along the road of villages, but they are not as prevalent as they were two decades ago. Traditionally, after the harvesting of padi, the people will rejoice and take part in kite-flying sport, when farmers have spare time to decorate and fly these waus. Today, this event also happens in conjunction with the royal birthday celebrations. Kite flying competitions are often held in Terengganu and Kelantan state. The person who posses wau that is superior in design and flying height will be the winner.

Moon

The phases of the moon are caused by the relative positions of the earth, sun, and moon. The moon goes around the earth in 27.3 days, or 27 days 7 hours 43 minutes, on average. This measurement is relative to the stars and is called the sidereal period or orbital period. However, because of the earth's motion around the sun, a complete moon cycle (New Moon to New Moon) appears to earthbound observers to take a couple of days longer: 29.5305882 days to be exact. This number is called the synodic period or "lunation", and is relative to the sun.The sun always illuminates the half of the moon facing the sun (except during lunar eclipses, when the moon passes thru the earth's shadow). When the sun and moon are on opposite sides of the earth, the moon appears "full" to us, a bright, round disk. When the moon is between the earth and the sun, it appears dark, a "new" moon. In between, the moon's illuminated surface appears to grow (wax) to full, then decreases (wanes) to the next new moon. The edge of the shadow (the terminator) is always curved, being an oblique view of a circle, giving the moon its familiar crescent shape. Because the "horns" of the moon at the ends of the crescent are always facing away from the setting or rising sun, they always point upward in the sky. It is fun to watch for paintings and pictures which show an "impossible moon" with the horns pointed downwards.

Fasting

During the Muslim month of Ramadan leading up to Hari Raya, it is mandatory for Muslims to fast from dawn to dusk. All Muslims except the young, old or infirm must fast. Many Muslims also abstain from pleasures such as cigarettes, eating, drinking and intimate relations with spouse doing during the daylight of the fasting month.Muslims usually wake before dawn to take a small meal called “suhoor”. They abstain from eating, drinking and sensual pleasures during the daylight hours of the blessed monthWidely, markets, or 'Ramadan bazaars' are held in many areas around the country, where all sorts of food and kuih — traditional Malay delicacies — are sold for breaking fast or buka puasa. Hotels and restaurants have also exploited this situation to offer exorbitant Ramadan buffets. This practice of overindulging has been criticised by Muslim clerics, notably the mufti of the state of Kelantan.

Mochi Ice Cream

Mochi Ice Cream is 1 of the most popular ice cream in Asian but not in Malaysia. So this is the first time i heard about it. Some one told me that the ice cream is popular in Japan.

Ingredients that you need to make the Mochi Ice Cream is ice cream flavor of your choice, 100 grams of glutinous-rice flour, 180 ML of water, 50 grams of sugar and cornstarch. So there are 8 steps to make Mochi Ice Cream and there are:

1. Let the ice cream sit in room temperature for a few minutes or until it becomes soften. Scoop and roll the ice cream into 10 round balls. Put the ice cream balls back in the freezer to re-harden.
2. Mix the water and flour together well in a bowl. You'll want to achieve a paste. Dump the sugar in and mix it until the sugar has dissolved.
3. Cover the batter with plastic wrap (for example Saran Wrap). Place and heat in the microwave for two minutes. Remove the plastic wrap and stir the batter.
4. Place the plastic wrap on it again and put it back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. Take it out and stir the batter.
5. Cover a chopping or cutting board with plastic wrap. Then spread and cover the board in cornstarch. Make sure that it's a good amount and not an amount that the mochi batter will stick to the plastic wrap or board.
6. Put the batter onto the board when it's cooled down. Cut and divide the batter into 10 pieces.
7. Pick up one piece of dough. Flatten it with your palm and wrap it around a ball of ice cream. Repeat this process for the other pieces of mochi and ice cream.
8. Place it in the freezer to re-harden the ice cream. Serve when ready.

Also i have some tips for you:

  • You can use any ice cream flavor you wish. The most popular flavor in ice cream stores are: green tea, vanilla, strawberry, and red bean.
  • The bigger the ice cream balls are, the more dough you have to put around it.
  • Be sure not to stretch the dough around the ball to the point where the dough breaks. If this happens, mold a little more dough where the hole is.

Langkawi Island

One of the most famous island in Malaysia is Langkawi Island. Langkawi Island is the main island are richly blessed with a heritage of fabolous myths and legends. As a natural paradise, the island are perhaps unmatched anywhere alse in Southeast Asia. The rustic beauty of the island is in itself a compelling attraction.
The name Langkawi is a combination of "Lang" and "Kawi". "Lang" comes from the Malay word helang which means eagle. In the past, the land was a home to innumerable eagles. "Kawi" is Sanskrit for marble, which is found in excess in this part of Malaysia. Both words are joined to form the word "Helangkawi" which ultimately became Langkawi.
Another reference found in the book by Tun Mohamed Zahir titled The Legends of Langkawi which says that the name is a mix of two Sanskrit words—"Langka" (beauty) and "Wi" (innumerable).
The legendary Isle of Langkawi is located in Kedah, northwest of Peninsular Malaysia. Comprising a group of 104 islands, the biggest being Langkawi, it is a place for those seeking tranquility and refuge from the hustle and bustle of city life. So powerful is its charm on visitors that many have returned to the island time and again.

Critical Thinking

A person can be good at critical thinking, meaning that the person can have the appropriate dispositions and be adept at the cognitive processes, while still not being a good (in the moral sense) critical thinker. For example, a person can be adept at developing arguments and then, unethically, use this skill to mislead and exploit a gullible person, perpetrate a fraud, or deliberately confuse and confound, and frustrate a project. The experts were faced with an interesting problem. Some, a minority, would prefer to think that critical thinking, by its very nature, is inconsistent with the kinds of unethical and deliberately counterproductive examples given. They find it hard to imagine a person who was good at critical thinking not also being good in the broader personal and social sense. In other words, if a person were "really" a "good critical thinker" in the procedural sense and if the person had all the appropriate dispositions, then the person simply would not do those kinds of exploitive and aggravating things. The large majority, however, hold the opposite judgment. They are firm in the view that good critical thinking has nothing to do with... any given set of ethical values or social mores. The majority of experts maintain that critical thinking conceived of as we have described it above, is, regrettably, not inconsistent with its unethical use. A tool, an approach to situations, these can go either way, ethically speaking, depending on the character, integrity, and principles of the persons who possess them. So, in the final analysis the majority of experts maintained that "it is an inappropriate use of the term to deny that someone is engaged in critical thinking on the grounds that one disapproves ethically of what the person is doing. What critical thinking means, why it is of value, and the ethics of its use are best regarded as three distinct concerns."

The Girl With A Long Tongue

Sometime during the month of September two boys went hunting up towards the mountain and were gone a good many days. In that camp was this one woman who nobody was supposed to see, unless they had permission from their Chief.

This woman had a tongue which reached both of her shoulders. Some medicine man had done this to her, so she couldn't see past her tongue. That was the reason the Chief and the people in that village did not allow her to be seen by anybody except whoever was taking care of her.

Towards night, sometimes in September while the sun was just going down over the hill towards the north, this woman managed to sneak out of her tepee. It just so happened that everybody was in their tepees, settling down to get ready for bed.

The woman got out of her tepee, and let her tongue down and looked to the foothills. On this hill were the two boys who went hunting. As soon as they came on top of the hill and started walking towards the river, the girl took one look at them and the two boys turned into stone.

While the girl was wandering around, somebody spotted her and ran to the Chief shouting that the girl was seen outside her tepee without his permission. The Chief and all the people rushed out to see what the woman was up to. She said, "There was nobody around my tepee, and it was so quiet." Later on she said "I was looking towards the hill, when two people started coming down from the hills, and I don't want to say what happened next. It is up to you to find out." The Chief then sent some men up the hill a couple of miles to find out what had happened to those two boys.

When the men reached the bottom of the hill they found two boys who were turned into stone. The stones were 12 to 15 feet high. They were shaped as wearing two big packs on their backs.

Today it is said that this must have happened sometime in 1604. The stones are part of what can be seen from about nine miles from Fort McPherson on the right hand side of the Peel River toward the mountain. Nowadays, tourists come every summer to take pictures of it.

As told by: Rody Peters of Fort McPherson

Bigfoot is sometimes described as a large, hairy, and some believe that this animal, or its close relatives, may be found around the world under different regional names, such as the Yeti of Tibet and Nepal, the Yeren of mainland China, and the Yowie of Australia. Bigfoot is one of the more famous examples of mystery animal, with a large ongoing debate on whether it exists or not.

Bigfoot is described as being between 6–10 feet tall, and covered in dark brown or dark reddish hair. The head seems to sit directly on the shoulders, with no apparent neck. Witnesses say that the big foot have a large eyes and the head like a male gorila but walk like a human.

Some people think that Bigfoot is the evolution of a gorila or ape that can walk like human and the next evolution, the Bigfoot will be shape like human. But until now no one really sure what Bigfoot eat or where its nest is and there no solid prove to show that the Bigfoot really exists.
